Flute in the Wild: The Mascall and Herriott Premieres
"A complete live concert experience, recrafted for the digital audience."
Flute in the Wild is a project of new commissions, a love of the wild spaces of Canada, and a desire to promote Canadian composers to the flute community and beyond.
The album was released in November 2021 and I now present the premieres of the Richard Mascall and Richard Herriott pieces written for the project.
My aim with the live-to-tape premieres was to create an experience both for the in-person audience and for the online audience that would allow each to experience the concert in the most immersive way for each. I hope you enjoy and please comment on your experience!

Who is The Wild Flute? The Wild Flute is a water sprite, a trickster, a siren. The haunt of a loon, cooling river mist, rain drops, and butterfly wings. Dressed in the Northern Lights with limbs of jack pine and deerskins.
Physically based in Toronto, spiritually based in the Maritimes and Georgian Bay, Ontario, Jaye Marsh has invited four Canadian composers to share an experience, a memory, or a story of a Canadian wild space. To learn more visit fluteinthewild.com
